Conversations with those who inspire our vision of yoga – today, a moment with Clémence (@clem_yoga)
Yoga teacher on the Basque Coast, Clémence - known as @clem_yoga - embraces a vibrant and intuitive approach to movement. Between prana vinyasa flow, warrior yoga, yin yoga and even aerial yoga, her practice doesn’t fit neatly into a single box. Curious and always in motion, she continues to explore new disciplines, such as animal flow, which she is currently studying.
Behind this diversity of practices lies a shared intention that guides her teaching: reconnecting with oneself, moving with awareness, and trusting one’s own rhythm. In this interview, Clémence reflects on the rituals that shape her sessions, the importance of a practice that remains free and evolving, and the accessories that now support her classes.
The yoga as a space of her own
When Clémence arrived on the Basque Coast in 2005, yoga was not yet at the center of her life. At the time, she was simply looking for an activity that would allow her to reconnect with herself, in a personal context where she felt the need to have a space that truly belonged to her.
Yoga soon became that moment for herself – a practice in which she could express herself freely. At that time, the discipline was still often perceived as a very feminine activity, which reinforced for her the idea of a personal and soothing space for practice.
This first encounter marked the beginning of a journey that, over the years, would take on an increasingly important place in her life.
A diverse and ever-evolving practice
Today, Clémence’s practice is defined by its diversity. She teaches several styles of yoga, from prana vinyasa flow to warrior yoga, as well as yin yoga and aerial yoga.
For her, each discipline brings a different energy and allows the exploration of movement from a new perspective. This curiosity is an integral part of her approach: she continues to train regularly, notably in animal flow, a practice inspired by the body’s natural movements.
Over time, her way of practicing has also evolved. Her practice has become more intuitive and more fluid, leaving greater space for sensations and the body’s natural movement. Yet the guiding thread remains the same: maintaining a practice that is alive, dynamic, and constantly evolving.
“I arrive and forget everything”
Before each session, Clémence has established a simple but essential ritual to fully enter the practice.
It all begins as she settles onto her mat and gradually welcomes her students. The moment opens with a conscious breath, followed by a few arm movements – like a meditation in motion that helps bring the focus inward.
“I arrive and forget everything,” she explains. This ritual acts as a transition between everyday life and the space of practice. Little by little, attention settles on the breath, the body begins to move, and everyone enters the session with a deeper sense of presence. “I move straight into my practice,” she sums up.
“Trust yourself and everything will be fine”
Throughout her journey, Clémence has developed a simple philosophy that guides both her practice and her teaching: “Trust yourself and everything will be fine.” A mantra she gladly shares with her students, as an invitation to listen to their sensations and move forward at their own pace.
For her, this trust is built gradually, through movement as well as experience. It grows through the practice itself, but also through the environment in which it unfolds. In her classes, accessories - bmats, blocks, or cushions - become true supports. They help adapt postures, bring greater comfort, and offer each student a more reassuring space for practice.
The bmat remains her favorite accessory. With good grip, students can fully focus on their sensations and allow themselves to be carried by the flow of the class. A stable base that also helps cultivate that essential sense of trust in the practice.
Continuing to explore, with confidence
Over time, Clémence has built a practice that reflects who she is : free, intuitive, and constantly evolving. From one style of yoga to another, from one training to the next, she continues to explore movement with curiosity, never trying to confine her practice to a single definition.
Through her classes, she invites everyone to follow the same path: taking the time to listen to the body, allowing sensations to guide the practice, and cultivating trust step by step.
Because in the end, whether one is just beginning or already well established on the mat, the most important thing may simply be to dare to try, to experiment… and to trust oneself.
